How to Make the Perfect Glazed Donut at Home

by admin

If you’re a fan of bakery treats, then you know there’s something special about a perfectly glazed donut. The combination of soft, fluffy dough and sweet, glossy glaze is truly irresistible. While it’s easy to pick up a glazed donut from your favorite bakery, there’s something satisfying about making them at home. With a few simple ingredients and some patience, you can create the perfect glazed donut in your own kitchen.

To make the perfect glazed donut at home, you’ll need the following ingredients: 2 ¼ cups of all-purpose flour, 2 ¼ teaspoons of instant yeast, 1 cup of warm milk, ⅓ cup of granulated sugar, ¼ cup of melted butter, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, and vegetable oil for frying. For the glaze, you’ll need 2 cups of powdered sugar, ¼ cup of milk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

To start, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a sticky dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface until it becomes smooth and elastic, then place it in a greased bowl and cover it with a clean towel. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to about ½ inch thick. Use a donut cutter or a round cookie cutter to cut out donut shapes, then place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover the donuts with a clean towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

While the donuts are rising, make the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth. Set the glaze aside until the donuts are ready.

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 350°F. Carefully drop the donuts into the hot oil, frying them for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown. Remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a wire rack to cool for a few minutes.

While the donuts are still warm, dip them into the glaze, making sure to coat them evenly. Place the glazed donuts back on the wire rack to allow the glaze to set. Serve the perfect glazed donuts fresh and enjoy the bakery-quality treat in the comfort of your own home.
